Steve Abel has
spent his life traveling, hunting and fishing
in remote areas across the world and has
studied all aspects of survival throughout
his life. For the past 20 years he has designed
and manufactured luggage and equipment for
the traveling fisherman.
Steve has always maintained an emergency
survival pack in his vehicle as well as
in his home. Living in California for most
of his life and in New Orleans for a 5-year
period, as a professional diver, he has
been through major earthquakes, hurricanes,
floods and other disasters that mandate
self-reliance.
After witnessing all of the escalating disasters
around the world in recent years, Steve
designed a survival pack for his wife as
a birthday present. He wanted it to be small
enough to fit easily in the trunk of her
car and light enough for her to carry with
everything she would need to survive for
at least 7 days. He decided that most survival
situations in today’s world would
be in an urban environment. He did not want
his wife to find herself 40 miles from home
during a disaster and be stranded without
the proper equipment to make her way home.
At a dinner party with friends Steve was
asked what he gave his wife for her birthday.
His wife excused herself and came back to
the table with her survival pack. After
she presented it, everyone wanted one.
With the immense interest and certain need,
Steve decided to create an urban survival
pack to enable everyone to be self reliant
and independent which gives them the best
chance of survival in the event of an emergency
or disaster. |
